General Summary:

The Chemical Inventory Specialist position is a long-term temporary positon that requires 100% travel to various customer locations (Alaska, Montana, California, Washington and Oregon), including hospitals and medical clinics.  The Chemical Inventory Specialist will travel to customer locations and follow a set of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to perform complete and accurate chemical inventory of hazardous materials.  At the end of each day, this data will be provided in the appropriate format to the Chemical Inventory Team Leader.  The data compiled from this inventory will be used to produce a Safety Data Sheet (SDS)/Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) database.


Main Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct inventory on approximately 400 chemicals on a daily basis.
  2. Take clear and accurate photographs of all required data fields for materials.
  3. Maintain accurate and complete data collection of chemicals inventoried.
  4. Take appropriate care and precautions when transporting/using inventory equipment.
  5. Maintain professional demeanor and communicate effectively with on-site customer representatives.


Education and Experience:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent required—some college or technical training school preferred
  2. One to two years’ previous experience working in a field that requires handling of hazardous materials required—previous audit/inventory experience strongly preferred
  3. Experience in healthcare (hospitals/clinics), lab environment, manufacturing or chemical production industry is a definite plus
  4. Must have basic knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) standards and regulations regarding hazardous materials
  5. Seeking self-starter who can also work independently and is thorough and detail oriented
  6. Must also have solid interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively with management and co-workers as well as customers
